Online courses significantly complement the on-campus courses. About 30% of courses are offered online, and research institutions, vendors, professional organizations, and commercial bodies contribute to the online course offerings.
A massive open online course (MOOC) style ,  has been adopted by commercial course providers, such as Coursera, Class Central, EdX, Udacity and Udemy. Several companies, such as Google Course Builder  and OpenEdX , offer course builders that can be used to create and edit online courses and operations.
In contrast to the awarded courses offered in research institutions, which tend to focus on systematic and fundamental subjects, online course providers take advantage of off-the-shelf software, platforms, languages and tools in particular, R programming, and cloud infrastructure MapReduce and Hadoop. In conjunction with university lecturers, online course offers create a much larger pool of subjects than are available in the awarded curricula of universities. Most online courses cover classic topics in data mining, statistics, information management, database management, machine learning, business intelligence, programming, and computational science.
