Bio | |
Thomas Ryan joined the ATO in 2002 as a debt collection officer. Over the last decade Thomas has worked in various senior leadership roles including Strategic Communication and Issues Management, Budget and Workforce Management and high volume Operational areas responsible for more than 500 employees.
Thomas is currently the Assistant Commissioner of Debt Risk, Analytics and Strategy. This role is focussed on bringing more empiricism to our debt collection practices, with risk and strategy more closely aligned to delivery and operational decision making. Thomas is driving the push for the development and deployment of advanced analytics models to transform the ATO’s approach to debt management. These models will inform optimal case selection and treatment strategies and increase the sophistication of the ATO’s debt management framework and performance. Thomas has previously designed and delivered a number of key organisational projects including the outsourcing of debt collection, credit card as a payment option, the IMF recognised ATO debt collection response to the GFC, and the development of the ATO’s differentiated risk based approach to debt collection and Viability framework. |
